About Us

Where We Come From

Iron Ridge Creative began long before the business had a name. My journey in video production started with a camcorder, a train ride, and a sense of wonder that’s never really gone away.

One of the first videos I ever made was a simple, handheld recording of the Durbin Rocket, a historic steam train that runs through the mountains of West Virginia. It wasn’t perfect, but it captured something real — the rhythm of the rails, the changing light, the feeling of being on the move. That experience opened the door to a creative path I’ve followed ever since.

Over the years, what started as a fascination with trains and movement evolved into a deeper exploration of storytelling. That journey culminated in the creation of Chasing Trains Online: A Study of Railfans, a full-length documentary film and the centerpiece of my master’s thesis. The film combined interviews, historical footage, and personal stories to examine why people are drawn to trains — and, more broadly, why we’re drawn to the things that move us.

Where We Are Now

Today, Iron Ridge Creative is a North Carolina-based creative studio producing audiovisual media for live performances, lifestyle brands, YouTube creators, and graphic-forward digital productions. My work blends technical precision with an editorial eye shaped by music, rhythm, atmosphere, and human connection — whether capturing a choir performance in a cathedral, building dynamic 3D visuals for an audio brand, or producing content designed to feel polished, immersive, and emotionally grounded.

This is a small studio by design. Every project receives a hands-on approach, with a focus on clarity, pacing, and intentional visual craft. I believe the strongest creative work does more than simply communicate information — it creates momentum, emotion, and lasting impact.

Where We’re Going

Iron Ridge Creative continues to evolve alongside the kinds of projects that inspire it most.

While I continue collaborating with retailers, institutions, and entrepreneurs, I’m increasingly focused on producing more YouTube content, capturing large-scale musical performances, and partnering with brands and creators in a creative direction capacity. I’m especially drawn to projects centered around movement, atmosphere, performance, and human connection — work that combines cinematic visuals with a strong sense of rhythm, identity, and purpose.

If that sounds like something you’re building too, I’d love to connect.

See you down the line,

A. Ross Weathersbee
